A cup of freshly brewed coffee in one hand, your Android device in the other, and the morning sunlight filtering through the curtains. You’re skimming through your emails when suddenly it hits you – you haven’t updated your Yahoo password in forever.
Security is paramount in today’s connected world. I’ve learned this the hard way a couple of times, especially when it comes to email accounts. These little gateways contain a vast amount of personal information that can lead to other critical services. Recently, I decided to take matters into my own hands and change my Yahoo password on my Android device. And guess what? It’s a breeze!
1. Open Yahoo Mail App
If you haven’t installed the Yahoo Mail app yet, it’s a good idea to get it from the Play Store. Once installed, tap to open.

2. Navigate to the ‘Settings’
Look for the ‘Profile Picture’ or ‘Menu Icon’ (which usually looks like three horizontal lines) on the top-left corner. Tap on it.
3. Enter ‘Account Info’
Scroll down a bit and you’ll see ‘Account Info’. Give it a tap.
4. Security Settings
Once you’re in ‘Account Info’, the next stop is the ‘Security Settings’. It may prompt you for your current password or a fingerprint for authentication. It’s just Yahoo ensuring it’s really you making these changes.
5. Change Password
Here you are! The moment of truth. Click on the ‘Change password’ link. Forget about using the name of your childhood pet or your birthday. These days, I recommend a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special symbols. And if you need inspiration or help, there are a lot of password managers out there that can generate and store strong passwords for you.
